I'm thinking about your last post...content, content, content. Original content is going to be hard for us because none of us are experts. Can we write small essay summaries based on the other articles we've accumulated so far? Or should we present an author's question and ask our community for their opinion?
I've collected a bunch of Kauai exercise content and wondering what to do with it and some great websites based in Hawaii that have to do with exercise so we can compare/contrast layout, design and colors. I would like to see more Hawaiiana in the website design, but I'm loving what you did with the bowler....great work.
Original content - BE the expert - research writing - sources to back up YOU the expert! That was the main purpose of the video - taking individual ownership of our project - I wish we could have gotten Bevin and Jared too. PHBM - we are the experts - the mission impossible crew taking on what other experts have failed at.
Constructive Group criticism regarding collaboration, moving with a timeline and moving ahead with content collected: After we settled on a Hawaii geography, I knew local themes would be important in design, but being a non-artist, I was asking for local theme pictures from others since February (I have learned from past groups not to hound people) so when pics were not forthcoming, I asked outside of the group - those sources never got back to me either. So, I went out on my own and took pictures. I know that at least since the beginning of March I invited other members to participate in design, but still not getting feedback, I really pushed everyone to jump in with their logo ideas - I got one taker who was probably in the same artistic vaccum that I am in, but at least we seem to have a collaborative logo design. Collaboration is feedback and iteration. Based upon over a month for web design collaboration to take place, I am left with only my collected material and my ideas- so that is what I am moving ahead with. At this point, as far as other members wanting me to design in something more of what they want, that collaboration time period is over, however, I always invite others to submit a better (but completely coded and built) web design that we can implement.
There may be great artistic design trepidation in other group members - that is understandable. But now great written collaborative content can still take place! I invite others to jump in and create in depth written content. Bevin has pioneered many ideas for other members to explore, research, and write about. Our group expertise comes about through collaboration: feedback and iteration. That collaboration will be manifested in our final presentation. Jared will need everyone's cooperation on that. We will be talking about those areas soon too.
In my post above, I was specifiying design and design techniques. I did receive some written content which will be included from Alana and our earlier group content on recipes and exercises, but again that is not in the area of collaborative design, an artistic and web marketing technical endeavour.
